Buchanan Castle

Pont 32 (The East Central Lowlands (Stirling, Falkirk & Kilsyth))
Timothy Pont, c. 1583-96image courtesy of NLS

Buchanan Castle was a tower house which was later incorporated into a classical mansion, the remains of which form part of a golf clubhouse.

The castle may originally have been built to replace the Peel of Buchanan to the south.

It is also known as Buchanan Auld House to distinguish it from the new house of Buchanan Castle built to the east in the mid-19th century.
