Brunston Castle

The Crichton family lived at “Burnstoun” from 1498 to 1542, and it was probably them who built Brunston Castle. In 1547 it was burned by the English under Lord Grey and rebuilt in 1568.

At the beginning of the 19th century the castle was still surrounded by a deep ditch. The castle is now in ruins.
