Bogie (site of)

Bogie was a castle belonging to the Wemyss family which was later replaced by Bogie House, a mansion designed by James Gillespie Graham.

In 1596 James Wemyss of Bogie was involved, along with George Auchinleck of Balmanno, John Moncreiff of Easter Moncreiff and Alexander Ruthven of Freeland, in managing the affairs of John Ruthven, 3rd Earl of Gowrie, while he spent time in Europe.
