Traprain Law dominates the East Lothian landscape and was clearly a site of great importance, having been occupied continuously for around 1000 years from the middle of the first millenium BC to the middle of the first century AD. In Roman times it was the capital of the Votadini tribe, and was the second largest hillfort in “North Britain” after Eildon Hill North in the Borders.
