Olcote chambered cairn is missing one half due to a road having been driven through it, however what remains was rebuilt in 1999 to its original design. The cairn would have been around 8m in diameter, and unusually has a double kerb. Within the cairn is a cist that is still visible, and beside that was found a broken urn containing cremated bone material.

Upon excavation, over 100 post-holes were discovered under the cairn, suggesting some kind of structure, possibly constructed from wattle walls. Originally the cairn's entrance was aligned with the avenue at Callanish, but this was later blocked and superseded with an entrance aligned with Cnoc Gearraidh Nighen Choinnich stone circle.
