Kae Heughs is a large fort situated on a rocky outcrop at the east end of the Garleton Hills.

With a main platform measuring some 140m east to west by 70m north to south (with some more of it quarried away to the east), the entrance to the fort is at the west side.

A series of widely-spaced stony ramparts, in part cut from the bedrock, protect the western approach to the fort, with three clearly visible and probably a further three less well-defined.

The ridge on which Kae Heughs stands extends to the east, with the eastern summit being defended by two further forts at Seaton Law and Hanging Craig.
