the Red Arrows visit Edinburgh

Tomorrow is Armed Forces Day, and as part of the celebrations we were treated to a display tonight by the Red Arrows.

We went up onto Calton Hill, the nearest good vantage point to our house, just in time to see the planes fly over towards the River Forth. They then proceeded to do what they do best, a series of complicated manoeuvres, red, white and blue smoke pouring from their tails against the backdrop of a stormy evening sky.

Ah! We watched the display from the car park at Ocean Terminal. When they arrived from Leuchars, it seemed as though they were flying straight at us.

    Wonderful stuff! Really!

I had wondered about heading to Ocean Terminal, but thought Calton Hill might offer more of a 360 degree view as we weren’t sure exactly where they’d be flying.

It must have been a great view down there when they were flying along the river!
